Elite Screens, Inc. today announced that its Evanesce integrated “In-ceiling” projection screen has received its UL 2043 certification as a fully certified plenum compliant product. This certificate is in accordance with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70); International Mechanical Code (NFPA 5000); and the Standard for the Installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems (NFPA 90A).
“It’s a great product and we have been eagerly waiting for testing & certification process to be complete,” said Dave Rodgers, Marketing Manager for Elite Screens. “The UL 2043 certification confirms that the Evanesce is fully compliant for air handling space installation jobs in either commercial or residential locations”.
The Evanesce is a discreet in-ceiling projection screen that conveniently disappears from view when not in use. It is encased in durable and moisture resistant white-finished aluminum housing. The Evanesce comes with a fiberglass-backed 1.1 gain matte white material. Both materials provide superb color temperatures with uniform diffusion and have black backings to eliminate light penetration. The screens come in size options ranging from 84” to 139” in 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 and 2.35:1 aspect ratios. The screen is moved by a strong and fast-acting tubular motor and comes with a total control package that includes (IR) and Radio Frequency (RF) receivers with remote controls, RJ45 wire connection and 5-12Volt trigger to coordinate the screen’s operation with the projector’s power cycle. In addition to this a wall-mounted low-voltage 3-way wall switch is included.
The UL 2043 Certificate indicates that a discreet product installed in air-handling spaces of a structure (Plenum) meets the standard industry requirements in regards to heat and flammability. It is evaluated through the careful analysis of its heat levels and visible smoke release. This test includes electrical devices in air handling spaces such as the area above suspended ceilings or below floors. An instrument that measures heat such as a calorimeter is used to determine fire performance and smoke characteristics once the product is subjected to open flame ignition. The ultimate goal to this test is in determining that the rates of smoke and heat release from the product when exposed to an external fire source will fall within the acceptable requirements of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70); International Mechanical Code (NFPA 5000); and the Standard for the Installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems (NFPA 90A).
Product reputability through quality manufacturing and the fulfillment of industry safety requirements are in the forefront of Elite’s dedication to its customers. Elite Screens is proud to introduce this strong, safe, reliable and aesthetically pleasing projection screen.
